Mapuche program "WIXAGE ANAY" celebrates 13 years!

The program "WIXAGE ANAY" (Get up/wake up!) celebrates 13 years!

With a special broadcast for Radio Wajzugun AM 800, the recognized program
Wixage Anay, which transmits from Radio Tierra and hosted by Elizabeth Huenchual, Elías Paillan of the Centro de Comunicaciones Mapuche Jufken Mapu, and produced by José Paillal among many others, celebrated its 13 years of existence.
Wixage Anay broadcasts Mondays at 7 pm (local time) and Saturdays at 8pm at 1300 of the AM dial in Santiago de Chile and over the Internet.

"Wixage Anay" which means Get Up!, Wake Up! or Get with it!,
began in 1993 with the purpose of:

* Addressing Mapuche issues from a Mapuche perspective

* Awakening a spirit and sense of a nation/people in Mapuche listeners.

* Inform about our reality, to take charge of changing our situation

* Be a meeting point for Mapuche people

* Animate mapuche life in the city and the countryside.

* Be of public service to our people.

The staff of Wixage Anay, Jufken Mapu Mapuche Communication Center, is:

-Elizabeth Huenchual, bilingual and with a strong knowledge of Mapuche culture. Co-host.

-Elías Paillan Coñoepan, Comunicador Social, journalist, in charge of
producing and hosting the show.

-José Paillal Huechuqueo, electric technician, bilingual and with a strong knowledge of Mapuche culture.

Jufken Mapu, also trains community-based youth and children in radio production and broadcasting.

On Saturday, November 18, 2006, the program celebrated its anniversay with a dinner in the Salon of the Central Worker’s Union (CUT), where the documentary Wixage Anai , Despierta Levántate, was officially launched and followed by a musical performance by the mapuche-fusion group Wechekeche Ñi Trawun. A special edition of the show was prepared to honor the recently launched radio San Martín de los Andes in Argentina, Wajzugun at 800 AM.-

Wixage Anai Jufken Mapu Mapuche Communication Center is a flagship Project supporting the reconstruction of the mapuche nation through communication.
