Witnessing Oaxaca

Just to flag the fact that we are able to see political conflict unfolding yet again in Mexico via the Internet:

For the past five months, Oaxaca has been occuppied by 70,000 (mostly native) teachers from the whole state, whose demands have escalated into a social movement demanding the state's governor's resignation. Federal police arrived overnight and a tense situation is being lived & broadcast.

The APPO and independent media are covering the developments, while national & international media only begin to acknowledge this conflict after 6 people lose their lives. I suppose peaceful resistance over 5 months doesn't cut it for the press.
